I don't own anything Star Wars, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Rises, The Fantastic Four, or Ninja Assassin. Characters you don't recognize belong exclusively to me. I tend to pair male protagonists with women of color, specifically black women. If this poses a problem with your ability to suspend disbelief, then this fanfic blog isn't for you. Otherwise, do enjoy.

What You Owe Me (7)

7:  Woman Story

Iliya sat in one of the relatively uncomfortable chairs in the office of the Enterprise’s new family psychologist.  Chekov sat in the chair next to her, alternating looks between his girlfriend and the doctor.  Iliya was halfway hysterical, which had become her default mode since she learned that she was pregnant and that her child’s father didn’t want to make their relationship official.  Chekov tried to be patient with her, as he could understand her frustrations, but there was only so much he could take.  As soon as Dr. Moton was hired, Kirk ordered them to counseling.

Iliya’s face was red and she was shredding tissue as she all but screamed at the tranquil psychologist.  “Dr. Moton, it is only right that Pavel and I get married.  I am pregnant.  Any other decision is unacceptable!”

“Miss Vadasconovich, please remain calm.   Getting upset resolves nothing.”

Chekov chimed in.  “Please Iliya.  We are here to resolve our conflict.  It does not benefit the baby for you to be so upset.”  He tried to touch her arm and she yanked it out of his reach, glaring at him with angry dark eyes.

6.  Mother’s Baby Girl

A/N:  WARNING!!!  THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS RACIAL AND HOMOPHOBIC SLURS AND INSULTS.  If you have issues with bigotry or racism or any of those qualifiers, then don’t read this chapter. This chapter is not for the sensitive or faint of heart.

Nyota was in the bathroom, throwing up.  She was bent over the toilet, retching until tears sparked her eyes.  Kirk was beside her, holding her hair out of her face while Spock stood with a damp towel and a glass of water.  Each time she vomited, Kirk looked at Spock and there was no doubt about the worry in his blue eyes.

When she was done, Kirk helped her to her feet and Spock wiped her face before giving her the water.  She rinsed her mouth and spat and then pressed the towel to her cheeks.  Spock poured her a cup of mouthwash and then diluted it with water so that it wouldn’t burn her throat.  Nyota took the mouthwash and rinsed her mouth once more.  She looked in the mirror.   Her skin was splotchy in places, she had a terrible headache and her belly hurt.  The baby was not having a good day.  Nyota had been besieged with weird stomach cramps all morning and afternoon.  She wanted to curl up in bed, but she was determined to get the confrontation with her mother over and done with.

5.   Happiness is a Temporary State of Mind

Kirk, Spock, Scotty and McCoy wandered through the building areas of the Enterprise, supervising the construction process.  Kirk granted rotating shore leave and had all crew members who resided on Deck D move into temporary housing.  All of Deck D was going to be restructured into family quarters with a day care center and an area that would serve as an eventual school.  Spock thought it was logical to include space for a school and Kirk felt it was a wise decision.  Medical Bay was also under reconstruction to include the pediatric wing.  Kirk already secured a family psychologist, two OB-GYNs, a pediatrician and five pediatric nurses for duty on board the Enterprise.

The senior officers stopped in front of C wing on Deck D.  Kirk stared absently at the welders and builders as they knocked out walls and restructured rooms into family quarters.

4.  Blueprints for Happily Ever After

A/N:  Slash alert.

The Enterprise finally arrived at Starbase 112 a few days later.  Kirk and Spock spent that time working, studying, briefing, talking and preventing chaos from breaking out all over the ship.  There were too many plans to be made and circumstances to be considered to do anything non ship-related.

Kirk was in conference room three with Spock, having conversations with the soon-to-be parents.  He was checking them off on a PADD, noting specific accommodations he would have to make regarding each pair.  So far, he knew that he was going to have to officiate a wedding.  Lieutenants Dana Hannity and Parker Morrow were going to be married and wanted to do it before Dana started showing.  They were going to keep their child and were willing to sign the waiver to remain on the Enterprise.  His conversation with Parker reminded him of the very important issue of tandem—or joint—assignments.

3.  Family Planning

Spock and Kirk were in the main conference room with Dr. McCoy.  A very tense and tired McCoy was addressing Pike on the view screen.  The ship’s surgeon was exhausted; one could see it in his blue eyes and haggard expression.  Kirk knew that McCoy had not slept since what he personally referred to as the Screaming Mommy incident.  However, the doctor’s tone was one of relief, because he discovered the source of the problem.  It wasn’t his fault.  The computer that synthesized the progestin malfunctioned and reduced the potency of the hormone by 67%.  McCoy’s equations were all inputted correctly; the error was purely mechanical.

The K/S/U Trilogy

For readers who are electing to read "What You Owe Me," it will help give you perspective if you read the preceding two fics.  It was intended to be a trilogy.  I regret not being able to finish it.

2.  Details, details

Nyota awoke earlier than usual, snuggled in the arms of the men she loved.  She sat up slowly, disentangling herself from the entwined arms of her lovers.  She smiled as they adjusted to her movement and slid her fingers into each man’s hair, drawing comfort from the act.

Two years ago, no one could have told her that she would know such deep contentment being involved in a committed threesome with two uniquely wonderful individuals.  She would have never believed that it was possible for her to be in love with two very different men and that they would adore beyond the point of reason.  Two years ago, Nyota would have never believed that she would be comfortable with her two men also being completely in love with each other.  She expected it as their relationship intensified and took pleasure in the fact that they loved each other as deeply as they loved her.  It felt right, despite what anyone else said to the contrary.   Jim and Spock made it all so easy for her to accept that sometimes it was easy to forget the truth of the situation.

1. The Runaround

Kirk sat on one of the empty cots in Medical Bay, his head in his hands.  He was surrounded by nine hysterical women, ready to attack him or Dr. McCoy.   McCoy stood across from him, arms folded, red splotches in his face.  McCoy requested his presence to Medical Bay not long after he and Spock returned to their quarters to see about Nyota.  He had not even begun to process Nyota’s news before McCoy called him down. Apparently, Nyota was not the only woman on the Enterprise to get pregnant due to a defective birth control shot.  Nine other women were also pregnant and they were furious.  Kirk was trying his best to prevent a riot as the women screamed their frustrations.

“THIS IS YOUR FAULT!”

“THERE BETTER BE A HYPO TO UN-CONCEIVE!”

“MOTHERFUCK!”

“MCCOY, YOU INCOMPETENT ASS!”

“I’M GONNA FUCKING SUE THE SHIT OUT OF STARFLEET!”

“YOU BETTER BE READY TO CARRY THIS LITTLE BASTARD!”
