I don't own anything Star Wars, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Rises, The Fantastic Four, or Ninja Assassin. Characters you don't recognize belong exclusively to me. I tend to pair male protagonists with women of color, specifically black women. If this poses a problem with your ability to suspend disbelief, then this fanfic blog isn't for you. Otherwise, do enjoy.

His Girl Friday (4)

A/N:  Sorry for the delay, but I have been very ill and then just busy.  Hopefully the next chapter won’t be so delayed.  --pink

The Gotham Stock Exchange

Max relished the opportunity to dress up, and she wasn’t about to waste the opportunity.  She bought an elegant black pinstripe Givenchy suit with a classic white shirt and jazzed it up with a red patent leather Prada belt and matching red pumps.  It was her favorite out of the four outfits she purchased as part of her role as a trader at the Exchange.  She’d been masquerading for three days, casing the joint, noting security, places and points of contact where some members of the Red Scarf Mafia could hide in plain sight as part of Bane’s plan.  They agreed that it was wise not to use any Testicles on this particular job; they would sing like jaybirds if they were caught.  The Red Scarf Mafia could be trusted not to talk.

Underground

Bane had a veritable suite set up in the sewers underneath Gotham City.  He could reside anywhere, but he was most comfortable living underground.  Max, not so much, but she was able to make the requisite adjustments so that their union would continue to be productive.  Bane had a queen-sized bed reinforced to take his weight, a couple of tables with necessary equipment and supplies, a fire pit and a water pit.  There was even a makeshift nightstand with a teapot, a cooler and a small lockbox.  Plastic tarps that could be lowered surrounded the area, giving them a measure of privacy.  Bane had the “room” located near a runoff and the constant sound of rushing water had a soothing effect.  Max loved water noise, so she was amused to find out that between the sounds of running water and lying beside him, it was very easy for her to sleep in the sewers.  Who knew?

A Trip to Uzbekistan

“I think this is the guy you want,” Max said, looking up from her computer.  “Dr. Leonid Pavel, a nuclear scientist who works for the Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter.”

Bane looked at the image of Dr. Pavel.  Max continued.  “He wrote a paper about weaponizing fusion reactions, published in Acta Physica Polonica.  You said that a fusion reactor has already been built to be used to produce clean energy.  According to Pavel’s research, the core of an energy fusion reactor can be converted into a nuke.  A neutron generator and a tamper have to be inserted into the core—“

“Made from uranium-238,” Bane interjected.

Max nodded and continued.  “Then it has to be boosted.  From there, the X-rays produced from fission provide the temperature and pressure necessary for fusion reactions to take place.  And boom.  This is the bomb you were speaking of?  The one I’m escaping from?”

His Girl Friday

Fandom:  The Dark Knight Rises
Pairing: Bane/Max (Female OC)
Rating:  Mature audiences.
Timeframe: This fic follows the canon established by the film but deviates just enough to be considered AU.
Disclaimer:  I own nothing TDKR, but Max is all mine.
Summary:  Max decides to join Bane’s cause.  Shenanigans ensue.
A/N:  This is a sequel to “What You Need,” which explores the path not taken in “Bad Habits.”  For those who saw the movie, there is a brief scene where Bane is exposed, and in that exposure, I saw an entire universe.

Prologue

She knew he was coming back.  She knew it in her bones, in her soul.  Even though it was never explicitly agreed upon and he never mentioned it again after that last conversation, she knew he would come back for her.  They had an intimate connection, and such things weren’t easily forged, especially between murderers.  She had enough residual anger that she felt like she could easily be a part of Bane’s plans, whatever they were.  So not too long after he left on her Ducati, she started preparing herself.  She took classes in martial arts, lessons in using various types of automatic and semi-automatic weaponry, learned to fly planes and how to use knives bigger than her switchblade and balisong.  Max spent three years learning how to become even more of a badass.  She found it highly exhilarating and satisfying on several levels.
